Description
A cylinder seal was worn around the neck of ancient peoples to be used as a signature to authenticate business transactions. They were made from many materials, such as clay, precious stones, marble or limestone. The symbols etched on the seal are the means by which origin is determined. Those on this seal identify it as coming from the Babylonian civilization. Babylonia was one of the early civilizations in the region that became Mesopotamia.
