Queen Victoria Coin Pendant

From the end of the dissolute days of George III until the beginning of the 20th century, Alexandria Victoria of the House of Hanover ruled Great Britian. The longest reign in British history, it was also the most peaceful, prosperous and dynamic. Queen at 18, wife at 21, mother of 9 children, by the end of the 19th century Victoria had so many royal relatives by way of the marriages of her children that she was called the grandmother of Europe.

Her royal family eventually included an Empress of Germany and mother of William II, and the last, doomed Empress of Russia. Although history deemed Victoria to be not especially brilliant, as a ruler or woman, it does credit her with being extremely successful in her choice of cabinet members. They gave her great service, and this benefited the country as well. In addition, she was queen throughout a time that saw more change than any other previous period of history. Industry expanded beyond any wildest dream, and science, literature and the arts developed new meanings and patrons. All this peacefully, while Victoria was queen.
