Description
As with most cultures of the ancient, as well as the modern, world, the family was the foundation on which Afghanistan was built. The family retained its strong role throughout the many historical changes of borders, rules and religions. Although the Afghan population is composed of many distinct ethnic groups, certain elements of their way of life are much the same.
Extremely close bonds exist within the family, which often consists of several generations. Family honor, pride, and respect toward other members are all highly prized qualities.
This seal ring, used in ancient times as a signature for correspondence and legal documents, was probably a cherished family heirloom for many generations, and, for reasons unknown, the family was unable to keep it. However, it carries with it the pride and honor of the ones who caused its creation.
